DRAMA as Old Woman climbs a tree in Busia just to be allowed to see the Governor

Drama unfolded at the Busia County Headquarters yesterday after an old woman climbed a tree in her quest to speak to the area Governor, Sospeter Ojaamong and complain about the high cost of living.

According to onlookers, the woman who was carrying a paper bag climbed the tree demanding to speak to Ojaamong and threatened to kill herself if her request was not granted.

A crowd gathered at the Governor’s office to enjoy the drama as it unfolded and that is when the woman started stripping forcing the police to intervene and plead with her to come down promising to give her time to speak with the Governor.

However, as soon as she was down, she was arrested and taken to Busia Police Station. Efforts by police officers at the station to control her were fruitless - she ran and climbed to the roof top of the police station.

This time round she said in Kamba dialect that she was not going to be fooled and she would not come down until she receives some money for upkeep.

The area police boss said that they devised a trick and gave her Sh. 4,000 to convince her to come down after which they rearrested her bringing an end to the 2hour comedy.

She will be arraigned in court today.
