The woman at the center of a nasty child neglect case with former National Assembly Speaker Kenneth Otiato Marende was a form four leaver when the love affair begun, a court was told yesterday. The love blossomed as from 2008.
Jennifer Nkouwa whom Marende has been ordered to pay child upkeep money to the tune of Ksh 457,000 had just cleared form four when Marende started dating her. Before the year ended, she was already pregnant with Otiato’s child who she safely delivered in 2009.
Marende had just been elected the speaker of the National Assembly around this time which coincided with the early tumultuous period of the Grand Coalition Government.
Marende has been ordered to pay Sh180,000 for school fees and related expenses, Sh90,000 for rent and Sh60,000 for clothing.
Jennifer, through a sworn affidavit by Njagi Nyaboke claims she met Marende in 2008, after she had finished form four. The former speaker started paying her shelter and upkeep in Langata but when she conceived in 2009, he moved her to a bigger house in Westlands. After the 2013 elections, Marende moved her to Kileleshwa but stopped paying her the expenses in November 2013.
